Sep 8 - What’s on my desk ?

There are three main items on my desk as I start the work week. Since it was a long weekend in the United States, I had an extra day to work on projects around the house and for the Foundation.

  1. Batteries - I had to replace the batteries in the automated blinds in my home. The process of changing the batters, and the regret I have about installing the automated blinds were the subject of last weeks video on the Leap Enabled channel. In that video I discussed how using lessons learned from an underwhelming home automation in your personal life can serve as a core for analyzing the implementation of a new AI agent or capability. You can watch that video here

  2. Stamps - Last week I had to send out several envelopes for the Foundation. These envelopes went out to (a) the Foundation’s monthly art subscribers and (b) recipients of thank you cards as part of the Foundation’s new Gratitude Program. The program enables members of the wrestling community to send Thank You cards to someone who has helped them on their wrestling journey. Sending physical mail is a key component of the culture and identity of the Foundation so we burn through a lot of stamps…and something that we addressed as part of the Foundation’s AI strategy. Though AI engagement emails could significantly reduce our overall effort, we it’s not aligned to our culture and identity, so we have not considered AI engagement emails.

  3. Zippers and Patches - When my sons grow out of their clothes, I look for opportunities to upcycle or reuse the clothes. Over the weekend I converted an old Juventus jersey to a zipper notebook pouch. I went with a gold zipper that match the Juventus logo on the jersey. I also pulled two patches off stained polo shirts to sew on to new polo shirts.
